I-Hwa Cheng is a Taiwanese photojournalist based in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from University of Texas at Austin before beginning her photojournalism career.She started out as a staff photographer for the national newspaper the United Daily News in Taiwan before venturing into freelancing. Currently she’s been working with Reuters as a multimedia journalist producing both photos and videos.
She also has experiences as a fixer for a APTN documentary “Skindigenous” exploring tattooing tradition in Taiwan and a feature story of the Strait Times. She speaks Mandarin(native) and English.
Her works have been published globally with titles including CNN, Associated Press, Reuters. She also received two Honorable Mention from the International Photography Awards 2017 of her photography works.
Other than journalism assignments, she is also a documentary-style birth photographer specializing in raw, honest stories of new life and motherhood.
